The accommodation is located in the quiet picturesque village of Makrades. The small village has retained its original charm with its many small alleys. It is situated between the bays of Paleokastritsa (Palaiokastritsa) and Agios Georgios Pagon. Both beaches can be easily reached by car. Makrades is an ideal starting point for hikes in the northwest of the island Corfu. The landscape offers numerous old paths through the olive groves with many views. The house is part of an old estate and therefore has a special charm. Lovingly restored, it offers all the amenities a guest could wish for. A place where the guest can still experience the quiet Greek flair of life live.
Jörg Kourkoulos (owner) and Sebastian Kremer (landlord) are their hosts. So that our guests feel completely at ease, you will receive a free guest brochure (German/English) with tips for your Corfu holiday, useful tips for accommodation/arrival as well as helpful recommendations for activities in the area (including smaller hiking routes) about one week before your trip. As experienced Korfuk connoisseurs, we are also happy to give you tips and information on request at any time.
There is also a café and a few restaurants within walking distance (approx. 400 metres). Food is available in the small shop/café in the centre of the village. On Easter Monday there is a traditional village festival with music and dance. Similar events take place between May and September in the neighbouring villages, e.g. Krini and Lakones. Along the road to Lakones you will find impressive vantage points, including some restaurants and cafes to enjoy the view. We recommend the Café "Dolce" which is open all year round. Corfu town is 35 km away. There is a daily bus service to the city.
Just a few years ago Makrades was a mountain village with an exclusively agricultural character (olive-growing), a collection of farms lined up one after the other with a confusing system of paths; narrow narrow streets with Venetian flair.
The house has been lovingly renovated to meet today's requirements without hiding its historical charm. Open wooden beams, niches in the walls, which were once old doors and windows, and the basic cut of the house are unchanged. Instead of wine barrels and a cobbler's workshop, a modern living/dining area with an open kitchen and comfortable upholstered seating area has now been created. In the living area there is a satellite TV with German and English programmes. The kitchen is equipped with oven, dishwasher and a separate drinking water tap. A large bathroom with shower is also available on the ground floor. On the 1st floor there are two bedrooms, generously equipped with 1.80 double bed and two single beds. An additional WC is also available on this floor. On the 2nd floor, the attic, in Greece "Sofitta", there are two more single beds in one room. Internet/WIFI is available throughout the house. Air conditioning with remote control is available on the ground floor and 2nd floor. The house also has central heating for the cold season and can therefore be used in the winter months. The house offers beds for 6 persons , as it has three bedrooms and is ideal for larger families.
On the ground floor there is a side exit that leads to the large terrace, barbecue area in the courtyard and the garden. The terrace is equipped with a large marble table and benches, as well as garden chairs and loungers. Upholstered cushions for the seating area are available in a chest. In the spacious barbecue area there is a barbecue with chimney extractor, a brick bread/pizza oven and electric outdoor hotplates under a protective canopy. An adjoining garden with a separate entrance door is currently privately cultivated with vegetables and is accessible.
In a small outbuilding on the terrace there is a washing machine (at a usage-dependent surcharge) as well as a clothes rack.
Three sunshades and bast mats are available for beach visits. Bath towels are for home use only, please bring your own beach towels when visiting the beach. In the living area there are a few board games (game collection, card games, etc. with German and English instructions) and a box of Legos.
The house has an own fenced parking lot on a property under shady olive trees (approx. 200 m of the house).
Before coming to Corfu you will receive a small brochure from the landlord by post with further interesting information for your stay on Corfu.
Living / dining area: Dining area with table and 6 chairs as well as a sofa, a flat-screen TV (SAT-TV) and air conditioning.
Kitchen: Modern open fitted kitchen with 4 zone ceran hob, oven, extractor hood, fridge/freezer combination with refrigerator and separate freezer compartment, coffee machine, toaster for 4 and electric kettle. Fully equipped with crockery and cooking utensils.
Bedrooms: 1st floor: One bedroom with double bed. One bedroom with two single beds, convertible into a double bed. Each bedroom has a large dresser for your holiday clothes, pull-out drawers, a wardrobe with hangers, pull-out bedside tables, bedside/bed lights.
2nd floor: One bedroom with two single beds. The bedroom has a large chest of drawers for holiday clothing, pull-out bed drawers, a wardrobe with hangers, pull-out bedside tables, bedside lamps and air conditioning.
If required, beds for toddlers or babies can be added free of charge.
Shower bath: A modern shower bath (incl. high-quality open granite wall shower), bathroom cupboard and mirror cupboard, laundry basket, towel rail, washbasin and WC.
Outside: Large furnished terrace in the inner courtyard with seating possibilities for up to 10 people. Outside lighting for the evening. Outside shower. Covered grill corner with fireplace, bread/pizza oven and electric cooking facilities.
